Refining the design process
Hi Readers, and welcome to ViewPoints Design Blog....
This is a blog about and exploring the examples and refining the process of design, specifically for outdoor spaces. I intend to photograph, color, fill space, texturize, manipulate, discuss, display, get messy, organize design elements, talk to you, and continue developing my perspective~
This is a work in progress and the aim is to document the journey as well as share in the fun activities that go into the creation of exterior designs.
I'll start with one of the photos that inspired me to pursue outdoor design
in the first place: When I was playing Riff in the International Tour of West Side Story, one of
my partners was a beautiful Russian ballerina. On a break from rehearsal we
rode the train up into the Swiss Alps, and on the way, I snapped this photo
of her, taking in the landscape. Her expression was superimposed on the scene, giving a sense of the experience of being on the train.
Views, like music, can evoke extremely specific feelings. Just think about the view of the house or apartment where you grew up....A fundamental element of outdoor design is framing and constructing these views.
